Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed on Breathesport.com that he made a bet with Liverpool great Jamie Carragher over Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho.
“Jamie Carragher once bet me Paulinho would score 15 PL goals in his first season,” former United defender Neville wrote on Breathesport.com. “The forfeit was we had to wear a united or Liverpool shirt for the day! Get that shirt on!!!”
Neville made a similar post on Twitter, to which former Liverpool defender Carragher replied, as shown below:
@GNev2 Send me one I don't want to take the framed one down off the bedroom wall. 15 in the season not just prem!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) June 26, 2015
Paulinho arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013 on the back of an impressive 2013 Confederations Cup performance with Brazil.
Much was expected of the 26-year-old midfielder, but things have not gone according to plan for him at Tottenham.
The former Bragantino man scored six goals and created 21 chances in 30 Premier League appearances in the 2013-14 season.
Paulinho had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 46%, and he won 15 headers, 25 dribbles and 52 tackles.
During the 2014-15 campaign, the Brazilian could feature in just 15 matches in the Premier League, creating four chances in the process.
Paulinho has been linked with a move away from North London outfit Tottenham this summer.
According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, newly-promoted Premier League club Watford want to sign the Brazilian, while Sky Sports report of Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande’s interest in signing the Tottenham midfielder.
