Report: Sunderland planning move for exciting French striker Sehrou Guirassy

Sunderland want to sign the striker, who has been linked with Tottenham and Leeds United.

As reported by the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are planning a move for Sehrou Guirassy, who currently plays for Ligue 2 side Stade Laval.

The 19-year-old prospect, highly rated in his homeland, has been watched recently by the Black Cats management, although they may have to move quickly to sign him, with Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United said to be tracking him.

Leeds were linked by Ouest France, whilst Foot Mercato claimed that Tottenham scouts have been watching him for a number of weeks.

The powerful attacker is a French Under-19 international, and is already a regular first-team player for his club team. He played 29 games in Ligue 2 last term, scoring six goals, which is an impressive return for a teenager in his first full campaign of professional football.

He has scored three goals in three games for the French Under-19 side, and he is expected to make the step up to Under-21 in the coming months.

Guirassy looks to be a top talent, and Sunderland have reportedly contacted his agent concerning a transfer. The Black Cats are looking to improve their Under-21 set-up as well as their first-team, and Guirassy is believed to be able to adapt to English football, with hopes of seeing him break into Dick Advocaat’s plans this coming season should he join.
