Report: Newcastle make £12m bid for Aymen Abdennour

Newcastle United, West Ham United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour.

Newcastle United have made a bid of €17 million (£12m) for AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, according to Foot Mercato.

However, the Magpies are not the only club interested in recruiting the 25-year-old centre-back this summer.

Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Liverpool are all keen on signing the Tunisia international, according to the report.

Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are also showing interest in Abdennour, according to Foot Mercato.

Newcastle’s problem

With so many clubs interested in Abdennour, it is clear that the Monaco defender will choose the team who will make the most convincing offer.

Of course, the Ligue 1 outfit will have a say, but it is likely that the former Toulouse star will make the final decision.

Despite Newcastle’s keenness on the player, they could miss out due to the pedigree of the clubs who are interested in him.

Both Juventus and Milan are much bigger clubs than Newcastle, while the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham will offer Abdennour a chance to compete for trophies and play in the Champions League in the coming years.
