Report: Former Newcastle defender Davide Santon makes up his mind over future

St James Park

Former Newcastle United defender Davide Santon is reportedly being targeted by Premier League rivals Watford and Crystal Palace.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Davide Santon has told his club Inter Milan that he does not want to leave this summer, according to Fcinternews.it.

The Italy international full-back recently declared his commitment to Inter on his official Facebook page, and now he has allegedly reiterated his stance to the club bosses.

It has been reported by Italian news outlet Fcinternews.it that Santon has informed the Inter hierarchy that he wants to remain at San Siro for the 2015-16 campaign.

This follows reports that Inter wanted to sell the left-back, with Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Watford both allegedly interested in his services.

Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this week that Palace want Santon, while according to Gianlucadimarzio.com Watford have an interest in the 24-year-old.

However, it now seems that Santon has no plan of returning to the Premier League this summer.

Good move?

Santon’s stance of remaining at Inter seems logical. After all, the Italian is back at the club where he feels at home and where he started his professional career.

The Italian, who joined Newcastle from Inter in the summer of 2011, struggled to make a lasting impression in the Premier League, and it is better for his career that he remains at Inter for the foreseeable future.
