Norwich are looking to sign the striker, who is also wanted by West Brom.
As reported by RTBF in Belgium, Norwich have had an opening bid rejected for Mbokani, who looks set to leave Dynamo Kyiv this summer.
The forward, 29, was the subject of a £4.3 million bid from the Canaries, but the report states that Kyiv want no less than £5.5 million for him.
A full DR Congo international, Mbokani has struggled to break into the Kyiv first-team in recent months, with head coach Serhiy Rebrov said to be not selecting him due to fitness issues.
He totalled just 13 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign, managing to net only three goals, but his overall career scoring record is far better. The 29-year-old scored 16 times in 33 games the previous season, and spells in Belgium saw him net an impressive 94 times in 192 games.
Last month it was reported that West Brom were keen on reviving a long-term interest in Mbokanbi, by submitting a formal offer for him. Belgian media outlet HLN claimed that Tony Pulis was keen on bringing him to the Hawthorns, to reunite him with former Kyiv strike partner Brown Ideye.
However, nothing has come of that interest yet, and Norwich could steal ahead to sign a player who looks well suited to the Premier League. The £5.5 million fee requested is only slightly higher than the newly promoted club’s opening offer, and if they truly want Mbokani there should be no issues raising their budget to sign him.
