HITC Sport understands that Fulham have stepped up their efforts to lure Tom Cairney away from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Fulham have made a move for Blackburn Rovers ace Tom Cairney, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential deal.

The 24-year-old is a popular figure at Ewood Park having joined from Hull City in 2013, initially on loan and then permanently from last summer.

However, Rovers’ financial situation means they will consider offers for any player, and they are now set to let Cairney move on.

Fulham, who disappointed hugely last term following their relegation from the Premier League, are set to make a concerted effort to get back to the top-flight in 2015/16.

Fulham boss Kit Symons is looking to make a number of new additions, and Cairney is one of those.

HITC Sport reported at the end of May that the Cottagers were readying a raid for the former Leeds United trainee, and that interest has now been stepped up.

A deal would certainly appear to make sense for the capital outfit, as they seek to bring proven Championship quality into their ranks.
