The Brazilian has found himself behind Jordi Alba in the Barcelona pecking order.
Paulo Affonso Neves said the following earlier this month to Mundo Deportivo: “Adriano wants to play, he wants more minutes and that is the only thing that makes him ponder a move away from Barca.
He added to those on Thursday in an interview with Cadena Ser.
“He has played little and contributed a lot. He is a great professional and a good person,” Affonso said.
“I think that if Adriano is going to be used as a third option, it is better that he looks for a way out. We are not in a hurry,”
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 30-year old by the Metro as they look to add to their host of completed deals this summer. Liverpool have confirmed five signings with Nathaniel Clyne set to be the sixth, as per talkSPORT.
Adriano made just 23 appearances last season as Luis Enrique preferred Spaniard Jordi Alba in the left-back berth.
The Brazilian has struggled to command a place since joining Barca in 2010 and at this stage in his career may feel that a move away is his best bet.
Brendan Rodgers has taken great strides to improve his squad early on in this transfer window and the signing of Adriano could be another clever piece of business.
