Ronaldinho says Firmino will bring goals and excitement to Liverpool

The skilful former Barcelona star thinks Liverpool have pulled off a tremendous deal.

Liverpool's signing of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino hasn't just got Reds fans excited, it's also caught the eye of the likes of Barcelona legend Ronaldinho, according to the Liverpool Echo.

As the Reds confirmed a deal for the 23-year-old yesterday, 35-year-old Ronaldinho, Brazil's talisman for many years, told the Echo that Anfield might be one of the most exciting places to watch football next season, considering they also have Philippe Coutinho on their books.

“For Liverpool to have Coutinho and Firmino is a big achievement for them,” the World Cup winner is quoted as saying to the Echo.

“It is going to give them one of the most exciting midfields in Europe."

It's one thing having an exciting side, but Ronaldinho also believes the Reds have a strong chance of qualifying for the Champions League with the former Hoffenheim striker in their midst.

“The creativity, intelligence, and goals they have between them can change Liverpool as a team," he added. "It is a big sign of intent. To have a midfield with those two gives them a big chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.

“It is a dream for the Liverpool strikers to have that sort of service. If you can’t score goals in a team with Coutinho and Firmino in midfield then you wont score goals in any team. They will create so many chances.”

Firmino could catch the imagination of Liverpool fans

Currently on Copa America duty with the Brazilian side, Firmino possesses real technique and flair, and demonstrated a superb creative streak during his time in the Bundesliga.

The forward is capable of bursting beyond the back line with his dribbling ability, and is happy to pass the ball to ensure his side find the net.

Though he has a decent scoring record, Firmino has shown that he is just as happy to set up, and has 28 assists to his name from the last two seasons.

Wherever he ends up playing for the Liverpool, his fellow attacking players are going to be just as eager to see him out on the pitch as the Anfield faithful.
