Liverpool will make an improved offer for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Reds are planning a bid in excess of £25 million for the Belgium international.
The Merseyside outfit initially made an offer of £22m, according to the report, but it was rejected by Villa, who want £32.5m as it is Benteke’s release clause.
Chelsea are also interested in the 24-year-old striker, according to The Daily Mail.
Should Liverpool should pay the entire release clause?
According to this latest report from The Mirror, Liverpool are just £7.5m short of signing what is one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
If the Reds are really so keen on the former Genk star, then maybe they should just pay the entire release clause.
That way, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers can start focusing on other transfer targets, and Benteke can look forward to pre-season training with the Merseyside outfit.
