Jefferies Group has hired John Novak from Citigroup to be co-head of U.S. cash equities sales trading, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

Bloomberg News reports that Novak, 47, will start at Jefferies in September and share duties with Rhys Brooks, 44, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the hiring hasn’t been publicly announced. They’ll report to Matt Foulds, global head of equity distribution.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that New York Life Insurance, which has been expanding through the purchase of asset managers, named Saad Khalil head of mergers and acquisitions.

Khalil, 32, will report to Chief Financial Officer John Fleurant, the company said in a statement Wednesday. He previously worked at Barclays, where he advised insurers on M&A and financing transactions, according to the statement.
