Liverpool transfer round-up: Nathaniel Clyne deal allegedly close, latest on Sterling's future

All the latest transfer news surrounding Liverpool...

According to The Independent, Liverpool have agreed a £12.5m fee with Southampton for the signing of right back Nathaniel Clyne.

The England international, 23, will reportedly make the move to Anfield next week, becoming Brendan Rodgers' sixth signing of the summer as he looks to replace Glen Johnson at right back.

Having already landed Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings, Rodgers looks set to make Clyne his latest new arrival - though the deal isn't expected to be done immediately, with a medical scheduled for next week when Clyne returns from a holiday in the United States.

Elsewhere, the future of Raheem Sterling continues to dominate the football landscape. The 20-year-old looks set to leave this summer, despite emerging as a star under Rodgers.

Having had two bids rejected, Manchester City are set to make a final bid of over £40m as they attempt to lure Sterling over to the Etihad Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

With Liverpool allegedly looking for a fee close to £50m, the report suggests that the anticipated bid from Liverpool could be closer to what the Reds are looking for, making a deal increasingly likely.

It seems that the signing of Brazilian international Firmino this week was a pre-cursor to Sterling's exit, which could now accelerate if City do make their latest bid.
