Departing Liverpool striker Iago Aspas has taken to social networking site Twitter to wish Gerard Deulofeu the best of luck at Everton.
Deulofeu and Aspas played for Spanish club Sevilla during the 2014-15 campaign, the former on loan from Liverpool and the latter on loan from Barcelona.
Aspas’s tweet to his compatriot when translated from Spanish reads: “Good luck kid. I am happy for you. Hope everything goes well.”
Mucha suerte niño me alegro por ti y que vaya todo bien abrazo @gerardeulofeu— Iago Aspas Juncal (@aspas10) June 25, 2015
Iago Aspas transfer
Aspas is set to leave Liverpool on a permanent contract this summer. The 27-year-old striker will return to his former club Celta de Vigo after they struck a deal with Sevilla.
Aspas joined Premier League outfit Liverpool from Celta in the summer of 2013, but he failed to make an impact at Anfield in the 2013-14 campaign.
The Spaniard could make only 14 appearances in the Premier League that season, failing to score a single goal and creating eight chances in the process.
Liverpool sent Aspas on loan to Sevilla for 2014-15, with the Spanish club obliged to make the deal permanent for €7 million (£5m) at the end of the campaign, according to ESPN.
Sevilla have signed Aspas on a permanent basis, but they have decided to sell him to Celta due to the striker’s limited impact.
Gerard Deulofeu move
Deulofeu has moved to Merseyside outfit Everton on a permanent contract for a transfer fee of £4.2 million, as reported by BBC Sport.
The 21-year-old Spain international winger has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Toffees.
The youngster played on loan for Sevilla from Barcelona in the 2014-15 campaign. Deulofeu had a pass accuracy of 72% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won one header, 28 dribbles and five tackles.
In five Europa League matches in 2014-15, Deulofeu created five chances, had a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 80%, and won one header, 11 dribbles and two tackles.
