At one time the world's most highly-rated young player, Souleymane Coulibaly is to begin training with Crewe next week - shunning offers from the Premier League and the Championship – and HITC Sport understands that he could be set for a prolonged stay with the League One outfit.
The 20-year-old has returned to the UK looking for a new club after he left Bari earlier in the summer - who he had joined from Tottenham Hotspur in 2014.
When Coulibaly joined Spurs, they beat the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United to his signature - but things did not work out for him at White Hart Lane, and he left.
But now Coulibaly is looking for first-team football, which is why he is looking lower than the Championship - as he wants to hit the ground running.
Crewe are understood to have been tipped off about the player from their good contacts with Tottenham, and club sources have confirmed to HITC Sport that they are hoping to land him permanently and are currently in pole position to secure a deal.
