Bristol City and Wigan target free agent Andrew Driver

Bristol City

HITC Sport understands Bristol City and Wigan Athletic are eyeing former Hearts winger Andrew Driver.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the clubs that Bristol City and Wigan Athletic are chasing free agent Andrew Driver.

Driver is available on a free transfer after seeing his short-term deal at Aberdeen expire this summer.

The 27-year-old joined Aberdeen in March after a spell in Major League Soccer with Houston Dynamo, but he made just one appearance at Pittodrie.

Driver came to the fore at Hearts and he caught the eye at Tynecastle, winning a call-up to England's Under-21s despite representing Scotland at Under 16 level.

The Oldham-born player featured for England's Under 21s at the 2009 European Championship before pledging his international allegiance to Scotland in 2010, although he has yet to play for the country at senior level.

The attacker left Hearts in 2013 for America after seven years in Edinburgh and he is keen to get his career back on track by winning a move to England.

Bristol City and Wigan are both thought to be weighing up moves for Driver as they are both in the market for new left-sided wingers this summer.
