Barnsley agree fee for Bolton's Connor Wilkinson

HITC Sport understands Bolton Wanderers striker Connor Wilkinson is set for talks over a move to Barnsley.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Bolton Wanderers have accepted a bid from Barnsley for striker Connor Wilkinson.

Barnsley are looking to bolster their attacking options and have lined up a move for Republic of Ireland Under 21 international Wilkinson.

Tykes boss Lee Johnson is a big admirer of Wilkinson having worked with the 20-year-old during his time in charge of Oldham Athletic.

Johnson signed Wilkinson on loan from Bolton last season on two occasions, with the forward scoring three goals in 10 starts for the Latics.

Wilkinson started his career at Millwall before being snapped up Bolton in 2013 and was tipped for a big future at the Macron Stadium.

The powerful forward was rewarded with a new deal last December after impressing Neil Lennon, but somewhat surprisingly they have decided to accept Barnsley's offer for the Irishman.

Wilkinson has now been given the green light to discuss personal terms with the Tykes and if he joins, he could become the club's third signing of the summer.
