Agent credits David Sullivan for West Ham’s imminent signing of Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet is reportedly set to join Premier League outfit West Ham United from Ligue 1 club Marseille.

The agent of Dimitri Payet has told The Daily Mail how West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has worked hard to secure the services of his client.

According to the British newspaper, the France international is having a medical today after flying in from Mauritius to Gatwick this morning.

Marseille released a statement earlier today, making it clear that they do not want Payet to leave this summer (click here to read more).

The 28-year-old winger’s agent has admitted that the Ligue 1 outfit did not want to sell him, but he has insisted that the player himself is keen on joining the Hammers.

“David Sullivan worked very hard to make sure the deal was in place and although Marseille did not wish him to leave, the fact West Ham wanted him so badly helped convince the player it was the right decision,” agent Mark McKay from ExcelFoot told The Daily Mail.

“Payet is a top player, an exciting player, and his signing represents a real coup for West Ham.”

Good signing for West Ham United?

Payet is 28 years of age, but he is at his peak and is going to enhance the quality of the current West Ham squad.

The former Lille star scored seven goals and created 134 chances in 36 Ligue 1 appearances in the recently concluded 2014-15 season.

The 28-year-old had a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 47%, and won three headers, 66 dribbles and 17 tackles.

Payet is one of the best players in France, and his arrival at West Ham is going to make the London outfit real challengers for a top-six or top-eight finish in the Premier League next season.
