Leeds linked Birkir Bjarnason will make a decision on his future next week, with Italian sides front runners.

Leeds United linked midfielder Birkir Bjarnason will make a decision on his future this week, report Tuttomercatoweb.

The Icelandic international was linked with a move to Leeds earlier this month by GianlucadiMarzio.com.

The midfielder played under current boss Uwe Rosler at Viking, and currently plays for Italian Serie B side Pescara, for who he scored into double figures last season as they came close to promotion.

His performances have attracted attention from sides in Italy's top division, with Atalanta most proactive.

Tuttomercatoweb report comments from Bjarnason's agent Stefano Salvini, who confirmed an offer from the Serie A side is on the table, but there are also alternatives. There was no comment as to whether one could be from Leeds.

He said: "We talked with Atalanta that showed his interest in the player. We are currently evaluating the various offers and projects.

"At the beginning of next week we will decide where Bjarnason will play next season."

Leeds addition?

Bjarnason would be a quality signing for Leeds who Uwe Rosler knows well, but the Yorkshire side are outsiders for his signature at this point.

Interest from Serie A sides has accelerated since Leeds were linked, with Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani telling Tuttomercatoweb last week that there are seven teams chasing the 26-year-old's signature, including four Italian sides and three foreign teams.

With a decision claimed to be due next week, Leeds fans will soon learn either way whether Bjarnason will be incoming or if the club will be looking at alternatives in midfield.
