According to a report in the French publication France Football, Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny as they ready a €30 million [£21.45m] bid.
Rafa Benitez has been a long-term fan of the defender, and since taking over as Real Madrid manager he has reportedly pinpointed Koscielny as an ideal target for the Spanish giants, as per a previous report on Talksport.
Now, following the uncertainty of star defender Sergio Ramos and his future at the club, reports claim Madrid have stepped up their pursuit and are prepared to spend big in order to acquire his services.
“Real Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of Laurent Koscielny and are ready to bid €30 million [£21.45m] in order to bring in the Frenchman,” the report states.
Should Arsenal be tempted into selling Laurent Koscielny?
While the centre-back has been a big player for the Gunners over the years, a potential £21.45 million offer for a 29-year-old [30 in September] defender would be extremely tempting.
Koscielny has in the past had problems concerning injuries, and there are no guarantees he will participate for the majority of the ensuing campaign for this very reason.
With Per Mertesacker, Calum Chambers and January transfer window signing Gabriel Paulista also available for selection, there are enough options there to cope with a potential departure.
