The Argentinian midfielder was given a one-year contract extension by the R's.
Queens Park Rangers' talented midfielder Alejandro Faurlin was this week awarded a new one year deal by the club as the Argentine seeks to continue his comeback from a succession of serious knee injuries.
Faurlin is now the Hoops' longest serving player having joined from Instituto in 2009, however the 28-year-old has just 133 appearances to his name in those six years, and a desperately disappointing handful of games from the last couple of seasons.
In the Premier League campaign just finished, Faurlin was unable to contribute as QPR were relegated to the Championship after just one season, appearing in the first two league matches as well as a League Cup tie, before rupturing his cruciate ligament for a third successive time.
Nevertheless, the midfielder remains a popular individual at Loftus Road, and the hope is clearly that he will be able to to offer something to Chris Ramsey's squad if he can finally get over his injury jinx.
After news emerged of his contract extension, supporters took to Twitter to discuss the decision by QPR, and most appreciated the faith the club were showing in the player:
Was it the best of decisions to bring Mackie back and give Faurlin a new contract? Probably not. But I love the fact it's happened.— Superckat (@superckat) June 24, 2015
Our club comes under a lot of stick mostly by our own fans but standing by Ale Faurlin is outstanding. The owners deserve massive credit.— Jeffro (@JabHookNQPR) June 23, 2015
Whether Faurlin makes it all the way back or not, club sending important message about how well it will treat players if they reciprocate.— LoftforWords (@LoftforWords) June 23, 2015
That's Faurlin sorted. Now let's bring back Barton. #QPR— Jake Spencer (@JakeSpritzer) June 23, 2015
I have everything crossed for Faurlin's knee. There is nothing that I want more than him to last a year! #QPR— Tom Bermingham (@TQPRBermingham) June 23, 2015
Happy with a 1 year deal for Faurlin. See how this season goes, if he can stay fit, offer a new deal end of season #QPR— Harry Taylor (@HarryTaylor8) June 23, 2015
The love that QPR fans have for Faurlin will never be understood by other fans. The man represents what QPR should be.— Sir Rorington (@Rorington95) June 23, 2015
I'm all for faurlin signing a 1 yr deal. But if he does 'it' again then there's no place for sentiment. #qpr— Steve Davis (@stevemavis75) June 23, 2015
Pleased (if slightly surprised) to see Ale Faurlin sign a new deal at QPR. Quality midfielder before *three* ACL injuries in three years.— Jack Pitt-Brooke (@JackPittBrooke) June 23, 2015
Says something about our recruitment policy when our TF thinks re signing Faurlin with suspect knees is the best bit of businesses so far— Tim Powell (@timnlouise) June 24, 2015
