The defender signed for Villa last week, but it looks like his old side kept his special date in their diary.

Obviously it appears that Manchester City are especially careful regarding birthdays, given the problems they had around Yaya Toure's 31st last year.
Of course, it could just be the case that Micah Richards' public appreciation of his time at the Citizens ensures a healthy relationship between the club and player, having spent 14 years on the books there.
Not to be outdone, Villa posted their own message to Richards a couple of hours later, and while City and their fans may look back on the player nostalgically, it is all about the future for the Lions and their new defender.

The England defender made 245 appearances at his boyhood side, making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2005, and big things were expected of the defender, as he featured for the Three Lions just over a year later.
But City gradually used Richards less and less as they became a more established side in the Premier League title race and Champions League football, and he has just 19 appearances to his name over the last three seasons, with a loan spell at Fiorentina for the majority of the recent campaign.
