Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat has told the club’s official website that he has no regrets over joining the team in the summer of 2014.
Feyenoord are one of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands, while Newcastle narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League at the end of the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.
Janmaat, though, has no regrets over swapping the Rotterdam-based outfit for the Magpies last summer.
"I have enjoyed playing in the Premier League," the 25-year-old told Newcastle’s official website. "This is where I want to be and signing for Newcastle was definitely the right decision.”
"I have great drive and knew I could be a good extra weapon on the right-hand side for Newcastle, but next season I want to improve and become an even better player,’ added Janmaat. “If I can do that, then I believe Newcastle can have a good season as well.”
Good news for Newcastle United
Janmaat’s comments will come as good news to the Newcastle fans, as he was one of their best players during the 2014-15 campaign and seems committed to the club.
The Dutchman played well both defensively and when going on the attack, and often stood out among his teammates.
The right-back scored one goal and created 29 chances in 37 Premier League appearances.
Janmaat had a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 25%, and won 33 headers, 28 dribbles and 77 tackles.
