Derby County are said to be making good progress in signing Burnley captain Jason Shackell and Hull City winger Tom Ince, as Sunderland’s Liam Bridcutt and Manchester City’s Jose Angel Pozo are also linked.
According to the Derby Telegraph, Derby are making ‘good progress’ in their pursuit of Jason Shackell and Tom Ince as talks go on between the clubs over a potential summer transfer.
The report states that Derby remain in dialogue with the two relegated clubs and good progress is being made. The Rams have seen a £2million ‘package’ bid rejected by Burnley for Shackell according to the Derby Telegraph, whilst the report also states that Ince could be bought for a record-breaking £4.75million on the back of his successful loan spell from last season.
The report adds that Paul Clement’s side have been linked with Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt and Manchester City’s Spanish forward Jose Angel Pozo as they look to continue their summer rebuild following a disappointing end to last season.
How influential would Shackell and Ince’s signings be for Derby?
Deals for Ince and Shackell could be huge in preparation for next season as it would strengthen the Rams and leave two of their main rivals for promotion significantly weaker - and both players would return to the club as fans’ favourites after successful spells in the East Midlands in the past.
Burnley skipper Shackell’s departure from the club in 2012 saw a number of Rams fans ask for a refund on their season tickets, as reported by the Derby Telegraph.
Winger Ince was superb during his loan spell last season, netting 11 goals in 18 games, and was lauded for his commitment, hard work and endeavour despite the clubs plight in the last three months - and a permanent deal for him would be a real signal of intent from the Rams.
