Newcastle United’s bid for Marseille winger Florian Thauvin has been rejected, according to The Daily Mail.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Magpies made an offer of £10.7 million for the services of 22-year-old.
However, Marseille have turned down that offer and want £18 million for Thauvin, according to the report.
Should Newcastle United make another offer for Florian Thauvin?
Thauvin is a talented young player who is certainly going to add creativity to Newcastle's attack next season.
The left winger has pace and tricks, and his arrival at St. James’ Park is certainly going to enhance the quality of the current Magpies’ squad.
Thauvin scored five goals and created 53 chances in 36 Ligue 1 matches in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign, and had a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 34%.
However, £18m on a single player sounds a bit steep, especially as Newcastle need to sign players in other departments.
Perhaps the Magpies should try to negotiate more with Marseille and try to convince them to sell Thauvin at a lower price.
