Report: Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers desperate to offload Jose Enrique

Jose Enrique

Liverpool are reportedly ready to sell former Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique this summer.

Liverpool could sell defender Jose Enrique this summer, according to The Mirror.

The 29-year-old left-back joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the summer of 2011 and has a contract until June 2016, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Mirror reports that Enrique is among a number of players Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is planning to sell this summer.

“Others who could well leave include loan signing Javier Manquillo, and Spanish pair Luis Alberto and Jose Enrique, with Rodgers desperate to offload all three,” states the report.

Should Liverpool sell Jose Enrique?

Enrique suffered with injuries during the 2013-14 season, and he failed to make a huge impact during the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.

The Spaniard could make just four appearances in the Premier League, creating two chances in the process.

The former Newcastle defender had a pass accuracy of 65%, and won four headers, two dribbles and three tackles.

It seems as if Enrique’s time at Anfield is about to come to an end, and one suspects that Liverpool will not miss him if he leaves.
