Tottenham face an uphill battle to sign Monaco's Anthony Martial.

Tottenham Hotspur face an uphill battle to sign Anthony Martial, according to French newspaper Le Parisien.

Monaco sold Geoffrey Kondogbia to Inter Milan earlier this week, as confirmed Inter's website, and further players are expected to quit the Ligue 1 club this summer.

Le Parisien list Ayenn Abdennour and Fabinho as likely to depart, with Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco also a possibility. Radamel Falcao is also set to be loaned out.

Two players in particular are cited as non-transferable and these are Anthony Martial and Portuguese under-21 star Bernardo Silva.

Le Parisien state only offers upwards of 45m - £32.5 million - will be considered for either player.

FranceFootball reported early this month that Tottenham Hotspur were close to a deal for Anthony Martial - but named the possible price at 25m - £18 million - which means the Premier League side would have to double their initial valuation of the striker.

This should be enough to keep Spurs at bay, with The Sun reporting alternative Clinton N'Jie of Lyon is a contender to join the club, for a price which would be under half of what Monaco are now asking for teenager Martial.
