McGarvey's Celtic squad warning for Deila, identifies position to be improved

Former Celtic striker Frank McGarvey wants to see Ronny Deila make an addition in a key position this summer.

Ex-Celtic striker Frank McGarvey suggested some transfer advice for Bhoys boss Ronny Deila this summer, as he spoke to the Glasgow Evening Times.

McGarvey suggested the key factor for Deila moving forward is to have a happy squad and to have a extra support for the likes of Leigh Griffiths and Stefan Scepovic up front next year.

“You need to have players who are 100 per cent focused on the club and who want to run through a brick wall for you – you’ll never do that if your eye is on another club,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.

“I would like to see another striker in there. I’d like to see at least a forward brought in before then, but I have to say that I do think they are in a far better place than they were this time 12 months ago.”

Dangers of unmotivated players

The danger of having an unmotivated player in a squad or a player who wants to leave for any reason, is that the negative feeling can spread.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila needs to have a very good team spirit running through the squad, because the Bhoys are going to be seriously challenged on all fronts next season.

If the squad is happy, the players will have a spring in their step and that will help them deal with big matches through the early part of the season.

Is a new striker essential?

Leigh Griffiths was the club’s top scorer last season and Stefan Scepovic eventually forced his way back into the team.

However, with John Guidetti leaving, there is a gap in the squad which needs to be filled and Deila has a real challenge to find the right sort of player who can challenge his players and offer the team something different.
