After Kaboul and Stambouli, Watford now reportedly targeting Paulinho

Paulinho

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho is reportedly being targeted by Premier League rivals Watford.

Watford are interested in signing Paulinho from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to Gianlucadimarzio.com.

The Brazil international midfielder joined Spurs from Corinthians in the summer of 2013 and has a contract until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Paulinho is the third Spurs player who has been linked with newly-promoted Premier League outfit Watford.

Last month, The Sun claimed that the Hornets want to sign Younes Kaboul, while a more recent report in The Daily Mail stated that they are interested in midfielder Benjamin Stambouli.

Major disappointment

Paulinho arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013 on the back of an impressive 2013 Confederations Cup performance with Brazil.

Much was expected of the 26-year-old midfielder, but things have not gone according to plan for him at Tottenham.

The former Bragantino man scored six goals and created 21 chances in 30 Premier League appearances in the 2013-14 season.

Paulinho had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 46%, and he won 15 headers, 25 dribbles and 52 tackles.

During the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign, the Brazilian could feature in just 15 matches in the Premier League, creating four chances in the process.

The former Corinthians star had a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 29%, and won nine headers, five dribbles and 16 tackles.

Paulinho is just a squad player at Tottenham at the moment, and he will not be missed if the North London outfit decide to sell him this summer.
