Could the Tottenham Hotspur striker be on his way despite his recent comments on social media?
The Togo international has one year remaining on his current contract and, as cited in the Mail’s report, he has taken to social media in recent days to suggest he sees his future at Tottenham.
But the club allegedly feel otherwise with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said to want £5million for the player but likely to accept a lower offer.
The report even claims Spurs would be willing to pay a percentage of the player’s £100,000-a-week salary in order to push through a move.
What next for Adebayor?
With 12 months left on his current deal and with the player seemingly happy in North London, there is no rush for him to move on.
At 31, he will know he still has one big move left in his career be that this summer or a year down the line, and as a free agent he could be a lucrative target for certain clubs both in England and further afield.
That said, Adebayor will not want to spend the majority of next season out of the side and if Tottenham bring in another forward this summer that will see his limited first-team chances dwindle even more.
After just 17 appearances last season, and only two goals in that time, it could come down to just how much the player wants to play…and if any offers arrive at Tottenham’s door that Levy deems acceptable.
