Report: Watford rivalling West Ham in race to sign Zdravko Kuzmanovic

Watford have joined West Ham in the race to sign the Internazionale midfielder.

Kuzmanovic, 27, was linked with a move to West Ham last week by Gazzetta dello Sport, but now a new Premier League club are looking at him.

The 51-capped Serbian international, formerly of Basel, Fiorentina and Stuttgart, has now been reported as a transfer target of Premier League new-boys Watford, following their promotion to the top flight.

TMW have reported on the interest, claiming that Kuzmanovic will be allowed to leave the San Siro following the arrival of Geoffrey Kondogbia from Monaco.

A defensive midfielder, Kuzmanovic will find first-team chances hard to come by with Kondogbia now available for selection, and Inter are keen on selling a number of their central midfielders to free up their transfer budget ahead of more potential moves.

Last season, Kuzmanovic made just 14 league appearances for Inter, although he still impressed with his defensive work. He completed an impressive number of defensive duties per game, registering 1.1 tackles, one clearance and 0.6 interceptions, and his ball-winning style is something currently absent in the Hornets’ ranks.

With West Ham also in for him, it is likely that Kuzmanovic would favour a move to the Boleyn Ground, with the Hammers able to offer Europa League football. However, first-team chances are sure to be more consistent at Vicarage Road next season, and it remains to be seen whether with club formalise their interest in him this summer.
