Report: Mauricio Pochettino wants Kyle Walker to stay at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have a number of options at right-back for next season.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino does not want defender Kyle Walker to leave this summer, according to The Sun.

The England international is the first-choice right-back at Spurs at the moment, but the North London outfit have recently signed Kieran Trippier from Championship outfit Burnley.

According to The Daily Mail, the arrival of Trippier means that Walker is on his way out of White Hart Lane, but The Sun claims that the 24-year-old has been recruited to provide him with competition for the 2015-16 campaign.

Good move?

Tottenham now have essentially four right-backs in their squad. DeAndre Yedlin was signed in the summer of 2014 and centre-back Eric Dier is capable of playing at right-back.

This means that Pochettino will have options in that position, but perhaps USA international Yedlin will be sent out on loan to get regular playing time and get experience in the Premier League.

Walker is a competent right-back, and him getting competition from Trippier is good for Spurs.

This means that neither player will be complacent, and both will be determined to play to the best of their abilities all the time.
