HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Reading have made an offer for out of contract Hull City midfielder Stephen Quinn.
Quinn's current deal at the KC Stadium expires at the end of this month and a number of clubs have been monitoring his situation.
Hull have been locked in talks with Quinn for some time and they have tabled an offer of a new deal as they look to extend his stay at the club.
Hull are thought to have offered Quinn a new two-year deal, with Reading prepared to offer the former Sheffield United man a longer deal in a bid to lure him to the Madejski Stadium.
Former Sheffield United man Quinn is understood to have held talks with Reading and a number of other clubs are also believed to be tracking the 29-year-old.
Reading boss Steve Clarke is keen to add to his squad having yet to bring in any new additions this summer and also seeing the likes of Alex Pearce and Adam Federici leave since the end of last season.
Quinn is expected to make a decision in the next few weeks on his future after being extra time off following his involvement with the Republic of Ireland in the recent games against England and Scotland.
