Inter Milan have confirmed on their official Twitter account that French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has signed his contract with the club, and will complete a medical today.
With Roberto Mancini at the helm, Inter are expected to spend heavily this summer, and they are on the verge of completing their first big signing in Kondogbia.
The French powerhouse, 22, is heading to the San Siro for a fee of £22m according to Sky Sports, with Inter beating off competition from rivals AC Milan to land him.
The Daily Mail also reported last week that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to lure Kondogbia to White Hart Lane, but their interest appears to be over after Inter posted a picture on Twitter of the midfielder signing his contract with the club, before adding that he will undergo a medical later today.
After years of stagnation, Inter now looks set to open the chequebook this summer - and Kondogbia could be the first of many arrivals.
Power needed at Tottenham?
Given the report that Spurs wanted Kondogbia, manager Mauricio Pochettino may be looking to add some more strength to his midfield.
The likes of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason keep the ball well but don't offer a great deal of physicality in midfield, something Pochettino should be looking to solve this summer.
Whilst Kondogbia is now off the market, it would be little surprise to see Pochettino target a midfielder in a similar mould to the Frenchman in a bid to add some power to his midfield options.
