People News: Barclays, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs

goodbye

Peter Benoist, the head of U.S. distressed-debt trading at Barclays, left the bank, according to two people with knowledge of the move.

Bloomberg News reports that Benoist, who joined the bank in 2010, departed last week, one of the people said, asking not to be identified as the information isn’t public.

He led distressed loan trading at Barclays before running the U.S. distressed trading desk, the person said.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that Goldman Sachs, which is looking to issue exchange-traded funds this year, hired BlackRock veteran Tony Kelly as head of product development for that unit.

Kelly, who spent 15 years working in the iShares ETF business at Barclays and BlackRock, will join Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director. He’ll report to Michael Crinieri, who moved from the bank’s trading division last year to lead the ETF effort.
