The former Chivas USA defender set up Max Urruti’s first-half opener in the weekend’s 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo with a 30-yard free-kick, while also swinging in 11 crosses over the course of the match.
RM – Stefan Ishizaki (LA Galaxy)
The MLS Cup holders looked back to their best in thrashing the Philadelphia Union 5-1 on Saturday night, as Ishizaki recorded three shots, eight crosses, two key passes and his side’s fourth goal.
CM – Matias Perez Garcia (San Jose Earthquakes)
The Argentine playmaker assisted Sanna Nyassi’s opener and scored the second in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over a short-handed Seattle, while also making five key passes during his 77-minute outing.
CM – Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake)
RSL’s main man set up both of his side’s goals as substitute Olmes Garcia’s stoppage-time strike secured a dramatic 2-1 home win over Sporting KC.
LM – Baggio Husidic (LA Galaxy)
LA’s other wide man also impressed against the Union, helping set up goals from Juninho and Sebastian Lletget after opening the scoring himself in the 23rd-minute.
ST – Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)
The US international marked his return to the starting line-up with a goal and two assists in the win over Philadelphia.
ST – David Villa (New York City FC)
With NYCFC’s defence doing their job against TFC, captain Villa produced the goods at the other end, scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the season either side of half-time to ensure his team left Canada with all three points.
