Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has praised the talents of youngster Andreas Pereira on the club's official website after the teenager set the world alight with Brazil at the Under-20 World Cup.
In the final of the competition Brazil faced Serbia. After 73 minutes of play, Pereira scord an equaliser that gave his fellow countrymen a lifeline and ticket into extra-time, although they were ultimately to lose.
Despite not winning the tournament there is a lot of excitement about this young Brazilian squad. They were also without one of their highest rated players, Gerson of Fluminense, who is currently being linked with a Barcelona switch, as per the Mirror.
Now that the 19-year-old now has the attention of everyone, the question is when Louis van Gaal will feel the time is right to give him a first-team breakthrough. Pereira comes with balance, quick feet and an eye for goal.
Manchester United teammate Fellaini believes Pereira has a lot to offer and has everything required to be a great player at club level.
“Andreas is a big talent,” Fellaini told the official Manchester United website.
“I think the club did everything to sign him up to a contract because a lot of teams wanted him. He has to continue like that, to work hard and to keep going and try to win his place.
“It is always good to win your own prize and your own trophy. He just has to work hard and when the chance comes to him, he should take it. Andreas is a very good player, he has a lot of good qualities and he can be a great player for United.”
Can Pereira cure the headache that Pogba left?
It's no secret that Manchester United let one of the most exciting youngsters in world football go on a free to Juventus and now regret that decision.
Whatever happened with the player, his agent and Sir Alex Ferguson is for another day but United now eagerly await a youngster of similar ilk to come through and take the club to the next level in European football. That is what Paul Pogba has done in Turin.
Already we are asking big things of Pereira and unfair as that may be it's what you expect when playing for a super club like Manchester United. He joins a list of players like Adnan Januzaj and Memphis Depay as exciting young midfielders all playing at Old Trafford.
If the Brazilian teenager becomes good enough to be a first team regular, it will be seen as a success after coming through the prestigious youth system. That alone will help cure the Pogba headache.
