Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane explained in an interview for Goal.com what he feels should be the club’s main aim in the forthcoming season.
Kane was one of the highlights for Tottenham in the last campaign and he’s told the popular website that he wants the club to progress further, explain what he sees as the key for the players in achieving that.
“I think we have progressed this season. We had a tough start and then we struggled to maintain our form coming to the end of the season,” he said.
“That’s what we’ve got to try and do better - to attain a steady level of consistency throughout the season. That’s what we will be looking to do.”
Consistency the key
As Kane tells Goal, Tottenham have to try and improve their consistency.
There were some brilliant performances last season such as the wins against Arsenal and Chelsea in two London derbies, but that success was stamped out with a poor performance in the League Cup final and in games where Tottenham were expected to beat their opponents on paper.
Pochettino’s big responsibilities
Mauricio Pochettino has some big responsibilities over the summer, with one of the most obvious urging his squad to wipe the slate clean and attack next season from a different angle.
He’s also got a responsibility to try and improve the squad over the summer so that Tottenham are in a better position when it comes to competing for a position in the top four.
Why did Spurs struggle towards the end of the season?
Possibly simply because the aim of qualifying for the Champions League had already slipped away and has become impossible to achieve.
