French side Stade Rennais have confirmed on their official website that they have snapped up Aston Villa midfielder Yacouba Sylla.
Rennes have already snapped up Ludovic Baal and Dimitri Cavare this summer, but have now made their third signing of the summer by landing Sylla.
The 24-year-old joined Villa from Clermont Foot in January 2013, but mustered only 24 appearances for the club before being loaned out to Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor last summer.
His season-long stay in Turkey is now over - and so is his Aston Villa career, after Rennes announced on their official website that Sylla had signed a four-year contract to return to France.
Sylla's departure could set off a chain of exits for Villa, with manager Tim Sherwood no doubt keen to revamp his squad this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Burnley will sign Villa right back Matthew Lowton in the coming hours, and the likes of Aly Cissokho, Carles Gil and Libor Kozak could also be heading for the exit.
Forward Andreas Weimann has already joined Derby County, with a huge overhaul set to take place under Sherwood - he now needs new signings to supplement his squad, having already signed defender Micah Richards on a free transfer from Manchester City.
