HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of former Ipswich Town winger Paul Anderson on a free transfer.
Anderson is currently a free agent after being released by Ipswich earlier this summer upon the expiration of his contract at Portman Road.
The 26-year-old made 68 appearances, scoring seven goals during his two years at Ipswich after joining from Bristol City.
A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in the former Liverpool youngster, but Birmingham are in pole position to land the 26-year-old.
Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett is the market for attacking reinforcements as he looks to build on an impressive first season at St Andrew's and he sees Anderson as a key addition to his plans for next season.
Birmingham have yet to make a new signing so far this summer and Rowett is keen to push through a deal for Anderson ahead of the new Championship season on August 8.
