Yevhen Konoplyanka is one of the most desirable transfers of the summer.
Highly-rated Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka will finally move clubs this week, his father confirmed in an interview picked up by Sevilla-based paper Eldesmarque.
The Ukrainian international is one of the most desirable transfers of the summer after running down his contract with Dnipro and available to walk away for free.
Last season, he guided his side to a Europa League final place and amid speculation of a move to the Premier League Konopyanka spoke of his fondness for the English top-flight.
As per the Daily Star, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City are among those heavily linked though the trio face competition from Spain, Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi revealing their interest to AS.
With plenty of options on the table it’s a tough decision for Konoplyanka, yet according to his father it is one which has finally been made and will be confirmed later this week.
“We weren’t in a rush to make a decision because we didn’t want to cause harm to anybody. The transfer will be announced this week,” Oleg Konoplyanka is quoted as saying.
Who is the best option for Konoplyanka?
While Sevilla have Champions League football to offer Konoplyanka, the Premier League is more financially awarding and in many regards a more competitive league.
Of the interested trio, Spurs can offer the 25-year-old the London lifestyle and for the time being European football via the Europa League, though Liverpool arguably have more potential.
The Reds will be vying for a top four spot this season and they certainly have the financial pull to bring in top calibre players in order to achieve their season goals.
Stoke, while not as renowned as the other two, are an established top-flight side and in boss Mark Hughes they have a manager who knows how to get the best out of his players.
A move to the Britannia stadium could in some ways be deemed the safest option, but the 45-capped Ukraine star most likely will want to test himself at the very top of the reputed best league in the world.
