Report: Tottenham to offer Lennon and Townsend in exchange for Saido Berahino

Tottenham are reportedly pursuing West Brom forward Saido Berahino.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham are lining up a move for West Brom forward Saido Berahino - and are prepared to offer a swap deal to get him.

Tottenham have snapped up two defenders already this summer, luring Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier to White Hart Lane from Koln and Burnley respectively.

Now, manager Mauricio Pochettino should focus his attention on improving his strikeforce, with support needed for Harry Kane after limited contributions from Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado this past season.

The Mirror believe that Spurs now want to bring West Brom striker Saido Berahino to North London, having seen the England Under-21 striker hit 20 goals for the Baggies last season.

In order to prise Berahino away from The Hawthorns, the report suggests that Tottenham are willing to offer Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon in exchange.

The two wingers have no future at Tottenham under Pochettino according to The Mirror, and Tony Pulis wouldallegedly be keen to sign the duo in order to boost his options in the final third.

Perfect for Tottenham?

Given Harry Kane's exploits last season, it was always going to be hard for Pochettino to land another striker, given that they would know they wouldn't be first choice.

One way to get around that is to sign a player who can not only play up front but also out wide - and Berahino fits that bill perfectly.

The 21-year-old can play through the middle or down the flanks, which could be ideal for Tottenham, who could use Berahino in a number of different ways should they manage to sign him.
