According to a report in The Daily Star, Everton boss Roberto Martinez is plotting an £8 million bid as they finally look to seal a deal for Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann.
The 28-year-old centre-back had an outstanding campaign for the Eagles, winning the club’s Player of the Year trophy as he helped steer the club to an impressive mid-table finish.
As per a previous report in The Mirror last month, his strong displays had attracted the attentions of Everton, who have reportedly been tracking the player for some years now.
The Toffees are keen on strengthening their defensive ranks following a somewhat mediocre campaign last season, and a new report in the Daily Star pinpoints Dann as the club’s ideal defensive acquisition.
“The Goodison Park club failed to land Dann when he was at Birmingham and Blackburn. Now, boss Roberto Martinez is hoping it will be a case of third time lucky with an offer of £8million,” states the report.
Would Scott Dann be a good signing for Everton?
The former Birmingham City man has plenty of Premier League experience and can be described as a real no-nonsense centre-back, arguably the type of player the Toffees currently lack.
Over the course of last season, Dann averaged an impressive 3.2 aerial duel winners and 6.5 effective clearances per Premier League encounter while also contributing to two goals and three assists.
The Eagles’ club captain has two more years left on his deal, a situation which could see a potential £8m bid prompt the South Londoners into reluctantly letting him go.
