Report: Crystal Palace interested in Newcastle target Charlie Austin

QPR star Charlie Austin is reportedly being targeted by Newcastle United, Southampton, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace are ready to swoop in on Newcastle United target Charlie Austin, according to The Sun.

The Queens Park Rangers forward has been linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, with The Mirror claiming that the Magpies have already made a bid of £10 million for him.

A number of other Premier League clubs are also reportedly looking to secure the services of the 25-year-old former Burnley star, who was arguably the best player for Rangers in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.

Southampton, West Ham United and Aston Villa all want Austin, according to The Mirror, while The Telegraph recently reported of English champions Chelsea’s interest in the Englishman.

According to a report in The Northern Echo last week, Liverpool have already made contact with the former Swindon Town forward’s representatives.

London outfit Palace have now joined the race for the signature of Austin, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Eagles manager Alan Pardew is ready to move in and snap up the forward ahead of his former club Newcastle.

“The QPR striker is a top target for Pards’ old club Toon but the Crystal Palace boss aims to persuade £15million-rated Austin to lead his attack after the Eagles finished tenth last season,” states the report in The Sun.

Good signing for Crystal Palace?

Austin would be a brilliant signing for Crystal Palace, as he proved in the 2014-15 season that he can be a success in the Premier League.

The QPR forward scored 18 goals and created 23 chances in 35 Premier League appearances.

The Englishman had a pass accuracy of 66% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and won 86 headers, 15 dribbles and 16 tackles.
