Here is how England’s under-21 side will line up for today’s clash with Sweden, including players from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Everton.
England under-21 starting XI: Butland, Jenkinson, Moore, Gibson, Garbutt, Chalobah, Hughes, Carroll, Pritchard, Kane, Redmond
England under-21s take on their Swedish counterparts this weekend with Gareth Southgate’s side desperate for a win.
The young Three Lions side lost their opening match of the tournament 1-0 to Portugal and currently find themselves bottom of Group B.
With Sweden winning their opening game 2-1 against Italy, it is possible that England could be eliminated from the competition with just two matches played, but they will be fully focused on earning a victory that could quickly reverse their fortunes.
England will have to do without the injured Everton defender John Stones while West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino withdrew prior to their first match with a knee problem.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the player England will be looking to for inspiration, with the 21-year-old ending last season with 31 goals for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
That said, it should not be left to the Tottenham man alone to get England a vital three points and there is plenty of talent for Southgate to call upon.
Garbutt enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park last season, featuring 10 times and suggesting Everton have another very talented youngster on their hands.
