West Ham United have added to their impressive group of young players.

West Ham United have signed 18-year-old attacking midfielder Martin Samuelson from Manchester City, the Hammers’ official website has confirmed.

The Norwegian had previously been a member of City’s Elite Development Squad but with his contract expiring this summer he has now opted for a move to Upton Park.

Samuelson was previously on City’s books for three seasons and it is quite a coup for West Ham to sign a player who adds to their impressive group of young talent.

Reece Burke is the latest youngster to break through into the London club’s first-team, excelling last season when called upon by former manager Sam Allardyce, and now Samuelson will be hoping to ultimately follow suit under recently-appointed Hammers boss Slaven Bilic.

The report from West Ham’s website confirms the teenager has signed an initial two-year deal with the option to extend for two more years. That means Samuelson will definitely be on West Ham’s books until at least the summer of 2017.

Having represented Norway at every level from under-16 to under-18 his next task is to show what he can do at his new club on a consistent basis, both on the training field and for the academy side.
