One of Tottenham Hotspur's exciting young prospects has been looking ahead.
The USA international may have signed for Spurs last summer, but a loan spell at his former club Seattle Sounders means he has only been at White Hart Lane for a few months, in which time he has played just once for the first-team.
That was a brief cameo appearance against Aston Villa, and with Kieran Trippier recently signed from Burnley Yedlin will know it will be tough to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans on a regular basis in the short-term.
But the 21-year-old has his eye on impressing this summer and beyond, explaining how he feels about the pre-season campaign.
“I’m excited about it,” Yedlin told the club’s website. “Hopefully I’ll come back fit and sharp. It will be good because hopefully I’ll be at the same level as everyone else when we all come back rather than coming in midway through the campaign as I did last year.”
Yedlin went on to say that he hoped to contribute to the team as much as he could next season and, despite Trippier’s signing and the presence of Kyle Walker, Tottenham may need to call on Yedlin plenty of times in what is sure to be a busy campaign.
With his electrifying pace, the young international could yet prove to be a wonderful addition to Pochettino’s side.
