Should Leeds United move for South Africa's international captain Dean Furman, now a free agent after Doncaster Rovers exit?

The Bafana Bafana star could replace Rodolph Austin in the Leeds midfield.

Leeds United need to strengthen their central midfield area this summer, after releasing three-year stalwart Rodolph Austin this summer.

With the Jamaican captain on his way out, should they replace him with another international captain?

The player in question is the captain of South Africa, who has just become a free agent in Yorkshire as well.

Dean Furman decided against signing a new deal at Doncaster Rovers this summer and has left the club on a free transfer.

In May he told The Sowetan that he hoped to get a move to a Championship side this summer, and who better than Leeds:

"I'm looking to continue my progress and I believe now is the right time to move on. I'd love to get back into the Championship and am looking forward to a new challenge."

The club need a midfielder and for free Furman is an absolute steal. He played 42 times for Doncaster last season and scored two goals. An ever present, energetic midfielder, with a great eye for a pass he has also played for South Africa at two African Cup of Nations.

At 26-years-old it is certainly time for the midfielder to make the step up to the Championship and Leeds would be missing a trick if they did not swoop on their Yorkshire rivals for this excellent summer option.
