Report: Swansea City interested in Tottenham Hotspur’s Andros Townsend

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend is reportedly being targeted by Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Swansea City.

Swansea City are interested in signing Andros Townsend from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Welsh outfit’s manager, Garry Monk, is “a big fan and has a long-standing interest” in the England international winger.

The Mirror also claims that Aston Villa want to sign Townsend in the summer transfer window, with boss Tim Sherwood having already worked with his compatriot at Spurs.

The 23-year-old has been at the North London outfit his entire career and has a contract until June 2017, according to

Good move for Swansea City?

Swansea are an ambitious club and finished as high as eighth in the recently concluded 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

Manager Monk wants to reinforce his side and make them go even better next season, but perhaps he should not target Townsend.

Despite the promises he showed when he was younger, the winger has proven to be an average footballer who is good only for a mid-table Premier League club.

Swansea are essentially that at the moment, but if the Swans have lofty ambitions, then they should be targeting better players.
