Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham United are reportedly interested in Barcelona-owned former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.

Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in signing Alex Song, according to Sky Sports.

Former Arsenal midfielder Song is on the books of Barcelona at the moment and has a contract until June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The former Cameroon international played on loan for West Ham United during the recently concluded 2014-15 season.

It seems that both Chelsea and City have been impressed with Song’s performances, as Sky Sports claim that they are interested in his services.

It has been reported that the two Premier League clubs have “held talks” about signing Song from Spanish giants Barcelona.

“The two Premier League heavyweights are particularly interested in Song because he qualifies as a home-grown player even though he played for Cameroon,” states the report on Skysports.com.

According to the report, London outfit West Ham want to sign Song on a permanent contract.

Alex Song stats

Song had a mixed 2014-15 campaign, as he started it well but faded away in the final months.

In 28 Premier League appearances, the former Bastia midfielder created 28 chances, had a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 17%, and won 17 headers, 39 dribbles and 73 tackles.

Song is not going to get into the first team at either Chelsea or City, but he could prove to be a good signing for West Ham.
