Manchester United's Andreas Pereira sends tweet after U20 World Cup final defeat

The Manchester United youngster could not ultimately fire his side to victory in the final.

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has taken to Twitter following his appearance for Brazil in the final of the under-20 World Cup.

Pereira scored in the final against Serbia but his strike was in vain as Brazil lost 2-1, and now the 19-year-old has taken to social media at the end of what was a heart-breaking match for the player and his young countrymen.

Pereira recently signed a new contract at United and he will no doubt be hoping to make his first-team breakthrough next season after just two senior appearances to date. But those aspirations will wait for another day.

“Unfortunately we did not win,” the United youngster wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “Thanks for all the support throughout the under-20 World Cup.”

Pereira will now off on his holidays before focusing on impressing United manager Louis van Gaal sufficiently in pre-season.

It remains to be seen if the player will feature for United’s first-team next season or if he will instead head out on loan given the amount of quality players ahead of him at Old Trafford right now.

But having shone for Brazil this summer, he may focus on the former and who could blame him?
