Liverpool have made their fourth signing of the summer, so what did Reds fans think about the move?
Liverpool have already had a busy summer and that continued this weekend as they announced the singing of Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez for £3.5million.
The 18-year-old has only ever played 24 senior matches for the Championship side – all of which came last season – but that has not stopped Liverpool paying big for a teenager with huge potential.
The England under-19 international is very much one for the future but his versatility – he can also play on either flank as a full-back – suggests he may yet get first-team chances at Anfield next season.
Liverpool have already signed Danny Ings, James Milner and Adam Bogdan since the season ended but the next step is to sign the much-needed superstars who can help them back into the top four next season.
As for Gomez, while he will have his work cut out to compete with Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure for a starting spot in the short term, he could one day play alongside Tiago Ilori in the Liverpool defence of the future.
Following Gomez’s arrival at Anfield we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought and you can read a selection of what we found below:
